Why this direction
Field Notes is a reason to keep noticing.
I started Business Growth Podcast because I care about how people build things. The archive is still here because those conversations can keep helping people. The next chapter is more personal: a practice of paying attention to businesses, owners, systems, and customer experiences I encounter in real life.
I homeschool my kids with my wife, and we have taken them to more than 40 countries because we want them to see the world through other people's eyes. That has changed how I see business, too.
When you move through different countries, you notice the small things: how a shop earns trust, how a family business handles service, how a tour operator sets expectations, how a cafe moves a line, how signage reduces confusion, how follow-up either happens or disappears. Those details are not always glamorous, but they are where a lot of growth actually lives.
Field Notes gives those observations a home. Some episodes will be conversations with business owners I meet. Some will be reflections from travel. Some will be short lessons from a company, market, product, service, or system that made me stop and think.
The lane
Curious, useful, grounded.
This is not a show built around hot takes or personality business media. It is a place for sincere questions, practical insight, and observations from people who are actually doing the work.

The Archive
The old episodes stay useful.
The original Business Growth Podcast archive remains preserved with the same URLs, transcripts, players, and search value. Field Notes does not erase that work. It gives the site a living next chapter while honoring what people still find through the archive.
